School structure

The distributed school program consits of fundamental and general subjects that are of broader interest. The school subjects are regularly scheduled and adjusted to the cycle of a PhD student according to the following table.

Each school usually lasts for one week and comprises lectures, exercises, seminars, and lab tours. At the end of the school, either a written examination or a final assignment is set up and evaluated to check student learning.

Usually, the courses are given by 4-6 experts (2 locals, ~ up to 4 external persons) and the course material is available online together with partially video recording for further distribution.

Each school hosts also social events such as town visits, excursion, school dinner. Poster presentations to foster interaction among students are usually organized. Each one-week long school allows student to earn 1.5 ECTS.
